Barracuda Spam Firewall FAQ
Here are some frequently asked questions and answers for the Barracuda Spam Firewall (BSF).
Q: |
What happens if emails make it past the BSF and are delivered to your inbox? |
| A: |
If you receive only one or two per day, this is generally not a problem. If you get more than that, please contact your IT support staff. Please do not delete all of the offending messages. It can be a great help to see what you see that is causing the complaint. We can not fix all problems, but we can work with you to make the situation better. Please also realize the Spam filter is not perfect. Some spam always slip through and some good mail will get caught in the quarantine. It's a delicate balance. |
Q: |
What happens if I don't look at the BSF quarantine summary emails? |
| A: |
The BSF quarantine will hold email for 60 days, after which it is deleted. It would be wise to check the BSF quarantine occasionally so any improperly classified mail can be delivered. |
Q: |
How much is the BSF actually blocking? |
| A: |
The BSF servers receive 70,000 - 130,000 messages daily. Of these, less than 1/3 are determined to be legitimate and actually delivered. For current hourly statistics, see: Spam Fighting Statistics |
